A Busy Week

Sorry that I haven't posted this week.  Here are some pictures of a few things we did. Be sure to ask about our very chilly and very unexpected fire drill.  Also our cookie party in Wednesday at 2.  There is a signup genius and I think we are still in need of some things.

We looked at Eric Carle art today and painted paper so we can mimic his art.

Reading Buddies

We have new reading bags that stay here at school.  Our bags have books we can read, books we are working on and books we like. We have a few minutes of read to self time after lunch.   Today we read to some very soft and cuddly friends.

Four Winds Today

We love it when our nature teachers come to school. 

Elephants Can Paint

We are learning the difference between fiction and non fiction books.  We are also being introduced to literary non fiction.  Today we read a book about elephants that are taught to paint.

Opinion Writing

We started our new writing topic today.... Opinion Writing 😊. After hearing the story, students had to decide if Pigeon should get a puppy.  They had to provide reasons as to why or why not.  Be sure to ask them what they decided.  Some of their opinions were strong with convincing reasons.

Next Week

Dear Families,  I will be at a two day conference on Monday and Tuesday next week.  Mrs. Tetrick will be taking care of kindergarten 😊

We have a school wide meeting on Monday morning so reading program will start at 9:10 ish.
